Beautiful rhubarb with long red stalks, delicious once cooked. This perennial enjoys sunny locations and nutrient-rich soil. Plant between March and October. It will overwinter as a root and resume growth the following spring.

Rhubarb stalks are eaten cooked and should not be consumed raw due to their high oxalic acid content (which can be harmful to health in large quantities).

Growing instructions

Plant rhubarb roots in spring, once the risk of severe frost has passed and the soil begins to warm up (March-May). Space the plants about 50 cm apart so they have enough room to develop. When planting, make sure to place the bud just at soil level so it can emerge easily. Planting roots allows you to obtain harvests much more quickly than sowing seeds.

To encourage good establishment, it is advisable to water after planting, especially if the spring is dry. During the first year, it is recommended not to harvest the stalks so that the plant can establish itself properly and develop a strong root system.
