White borage is a remarkable plant – medicinal, culinary, and pollinator-friendly. Rarer than the classic blue-flowered variety, it stands out with its delicate white star-shaped blooms that brighten up the garden and attract plenty of bees.
Traditionally valued for its anti-inflammatory properties, borage seed oil is also known to help soothe coughs. The edible flowers are perfect for decorating salads and desserts, while the young leaves, with a mild cucumber-like flavour, are a great addition to summer dishes.
It blooms from May to October and stays compact, reaching up to 50 cm – ideal for container gardening on balconies or terraces. Native to the Mediterranean region, it combines beauty, usefulness, and flavour.
