Zucchini, Ronde de Nice (Round one from Nice)
Cucurbita pepo
The 'Ronde de Nice' courgette is a traditional variety from the south of France that promises good yields. It is round, light green, marked with lighter stripes. It is harvested when it reaches about 12 cm in diameter. It is ideal for slicing and cooking in a pan or in the oven. The fruits are harvested continuously from mid-June to the end of October.
Growing instructions
Sow from mid-April as single seeds in 10-cm pots at about 20º C. Lightly cover seeds with loose soil or sand and keep moist. Transplant into the field from May 20th at the foot of the compost pile or in nutrient-rich soil. (Beware of slug damage!) Keep free from frost. Space individual plants at 80–100 cm on all sides.
