Syrian oregano, Zaatar
Origanum syriacum
The syrian oregano 'Zaatar' is a plant characterized by its extremely fragrant leaves, indispensable in Mediterranean cuisine.
The leaves can also be dried for year-round use. Its small white flowers are melliferous and highly decorative.
It's a small plant that can be grown in pots.
Growing instructions
Sow from May to June in seedling trays. Transplant into the field at 25 ✕ 25 cm spacing. Trim back the plants in late autumn.
