Greater knapweed
Centaurea scabiosa
The native perennial Centaurea scabiosa is distinguished by its large violet flowers, reminiscent of the landscape. It is very nectar-rich, attracts a wide variety of pollinators (bees, butterflies, bumblebees), and contributes to biodiversity in the garden. It grows on dry to cool, well-drained soils and also adapts to natural wildflower meadows. The robust and long-lived greater knapweed persists for many years, providing a natural and lively backdrop.
