Radish, Round Black
Raphanus sativus var. niger
This radish has a core with great texture. It also keeps well in a root cellar long into the winter. In addition to its culinary and storage benefits, it is also used medicinally to make cough syrups.
Growing instructions
Sow in mid-June to mid-August in rows 30 cm apart. Rows can be thinned to 10 cm in between plants. Use only mature and well-cured compost. With uniform moisture, radishes form delicate and flavourful roots. Radishes do great intercropped with beets and leeks.
