Red cabbage, Black Head
Brassica oleracea var. capitata f. rubra
This is a proven variety for early and late cultivation. It’s firm heads yield an intense blue-purple colour. It gives a deep cabbage taste that your expect from a red cabbage. Its average weight reaches 1000–1500 g.
Growing instructions
Sow in early April to early June in seedling trays. Transplant into the field after four weeks at a distance of 40 ✕ 40 cm in compost-rich soil. Cover with netting to protect against Contarinia nasturtii, the swede midge. Always keep soil moist. Harvest from July and on into autumn.
