Cicer arietinum
The chickpea 'San Marino' is a robust variety that grows even north of the Alps.
The seeds are rich in protein and perfect for Mediterranean or Oriental recipes. You can use them to make 100% homemade humus, or add them to salads or stews.
It's an easy plant to grow, even in pots.
Growing instructions
Sow from March to April. Space rows at 40 cm with 2–3 cm between each single seed at a depth of 5 cm. Alternatively, space circular plantings of 8–10 seeds at 40 cm. Seeds must be protected from birds.
