Snow peas, Swiss giant
Pisum sativum convar. axiphium
This medium early pea grows to a towering 150–200 cm tall. The showy violet flowers and large, bright green and tender snow peas make this giant welcome in the garden. Harvest from mid-June to early August. Swiss giant is a proven local variety which doubles as an ornament in the garden.
Growing instructions
Sow from mid-March to mid-April in rows 60 cm apart with two rows per bed. Alternatively, plant 8–10 seeds in circles 60 cm apart. In each circle pound in a 200 cm high stake. For rows, trellis the growing plants with twine or wire every 25 cm.
