Carrot, Berlicumer Selektion Z
Daucus carota
The ‘Berlicumer’ storage carrot is an old variety with very long, orange roots. It is sweet, tender and can be eaten raw or cooked. It is a carrot that is harvested between mid-September and mid-October. It can easily be stored in the cellar until the end of winter. The variety is robust and easy to cultivate. We have been growing it for over 30 years! At harvest, it can reach a height of up to 50 cm.
Growing instructions
For storage carrots, sow from June to early July in rows at 30 cm spacing. Keep the rows weed free and do not add fresh compost. If carrots are crowded, thin out to 2–3 cm between plants within the row. Carrots do well intercropped with onions to maximize field space.
