The wild bergamot, or bee balm, is a highly melliferous perennial plant known for its medicinal properties.
Its beautiful purple flowers bloom from late June to late September. It is bushy and easily reaches 1 meter in height. Its highly aromatic foliage and flowers, with their bergamot scent, are excellent for flavoring salads, soups, desserts, or as an infusion to relieve digestive issues. It is best to cultivate it in the ground. It originates from North America.
Growing instructions
Sow in early May to July in pots or seed trays. Plant out in summer/autumn in the open ground. Prefers rich soil. Distance 50x50 cm.
