Die Andenbeeren gehören zur Pflanzenfamilie der Nachtschattengewächse und erfreuen uns seit einigen Jahren mit exotischen Gaumenfreuden. Süss sind die Andenbeeren und die Ananaskirschen, ideal für Desserts oder zum frisch Naschen.

The ground cherry is the little sister of the Andean Blackberry. The fruits are stuck in small lampions and fall to the ground when mature. They taste, as the German name already suggest, like pine apples; for sure very exotic. The harvest starts in August until the first frost. Height about 40cm.

Sow at a warm location from beginning to end of March. Prick out young plantlings. Plant outdoor from the 20th of May. Plant distance 60cm in all directions. Rain cover not necessary.

Andean blackberry cape gooseberry, physalis

An exotic plant that is yet trouble free to cultivate. It gets up to 150cm tall, grows bushy and carries orange-yellow, cherry-sized fruits that are wrapped in light-brown lampions in the harvest season. The fruits have a unique taste. Excellent fruit for desserts.

Sowing from the beginning to end of March at a sunny location. Prick out plantlings in pots. Bed out from the 20th of May with a distance of 100cm in all directions. Tie up using stakes. A rain cover is not necessary.
