Greater burdock (biennial) Burdock
Burdock used to be found in every monastery garden. The root has been used for medicinal purposes (Burdock oil) and as food. As such, it is now considered medicinal food to tread gastrointestinal complaints. But it has unjustly fallen into oblivion. Prepare the root as salsify for satisfying meals. Height reaches 200 cm.
Sow from March to July in rows 30 cm apart with 5–10 cm between seeds. It is very low maintenance. Harvest the storable roots in October.
