White Soapwort Common Soapwort
The common soapwort is a perennial plant reaching heights of 30 to 80 cm, with light pink flowers. In antiquity, it was used for its cleaning utilit, as its name indicates. For this purpose, the roots and leaves are shredded and boiled in water.
Sow 2–3 seeds into small pots in March and April. Keep moist then plant in the open field in May at 30 ✕ 30 cm spacing. Alternatively, sow directly into the garden bed from April in rows 30 cm apart. It loves sunny locations.
