The thick bean is a heirloom culture plant and is a good source of protein (meat alternative). Usage: quickly steam young immature grains. Mature, dried seeds go well with stews. It is popular in the garden as a nitrogen-providing green manure.
Sow in February/March in row with a distance of 50cm. The within row distance is 10cm. The space in between can be used to cultivate potatoes or tomatoes. Late seed is damaged by lice.
