You can harvest these young fruits continuously. They are healthy and strong plants that do not creep. The dark green, long, and slender fruits will fill your baskets in summer—finally, fresh zucchini!
Sow from mid-April as single seeds in 10-cm pots at about 20º C. Lightly cover seeds with loose soil or sand and keep moist. Transplant into the field from May 20th at the foot of the compost pile or in nutrient-rich soil. (Beware of slug damage!) Keep free from frost. Space individual plants at 80–100 cm on all sides.

Golden butter selection z zucchini
It is pretty and yellow. It should be harvested as young as possible (10 cm), then it is tender as butter. The numerous large, male flowers are ideal for frying.

Sultan zucchini
For enchanting oriental dishes, this tender, light-green, and shiny zucchini presents the best choice. It is pleasing to the eye, mouth watering, and unmatched in flavour. It is normally harvested small at about 8–12 cm, but can be harvested larger at 25 cm for stuffing while it is still bright green. This variety is great for a family garden, but really shines at farmers market on fresh produce displays.

Ronde de Nice (Round one from Nice, France) zucchini
This is your round zucchini! Although it has delighted the palettes of those in Italy and southern France for ages, it is new to us. The round, bright-green, and slightly striped fruits are harvested from early stages (3 cm) to large sizes (10 cm). They are used for all recipes, but are ideal for stuffing. The plant does not creep and gives a high yield.

Striped Genoa zucchini
This is a different sort of zucchini. The open bush makes harvest easy with highly visible fruits. It gives modest, not super high, yields. But what it lacks in bulk it makes up for with a unique culinary experience. These zucchinis have a rich taste that is all its own. It is a real treat!
