Your great-grandmother probably cultivated this orache and it remains a valuable leafy green today. Unfortunately, spinach has replaced it in markets, but it ads so much texture and variety to the table. Today, garden lovers keeps cultivating and enjoying it. This orache adorns the table and displays with its intense red leaves. The leaves are rich in iron, calcium and vitamin A.
Sow from April directly into the garden bed in rows 40 cm apart. It grows quickly and effortlessly to one or two meters high. Use the young shoots and small leaves in salads, cooked like spinach, steamed, or sauteéd with oil. It has a long harvest season from June to October. It gives a bountiful yield.
