Verona red chicory

Red chicory is a popular salad in Italy. Its purple rosettes can be harvested from the end of February and add a wonderful slightly bitter taste to every salad. The root can be – cut finely - added as well.

Sowing from end of June to beginning of August. Row distance 25cm. Thin out the plants to about 10cm in autumn. Until autumn the leaves can grow to a length of 20-30 cm. In winter, it forms a red rosette, that is cut from February.
