Pin wheel, Mexican marigold (annual) tagetes

(Tagetes patula) The flowers of the pinwheel marigold surprise because of their unique petals, which are striped in golden and mahogany tones. The tall bush is an eye catcher in the garden, the certain something in the summery flower bouquet. Blooms from July to October. Height about 100cm.

Sow in trays from April, bed out to the open land from the middle of May. Frost-free culture necessary. Attention: Slug damage! Tagetes are not only used as border plants but are also beneficial to plant between vegetables when soil fatigue occurs.

Dyer's-marigold (annual) tagetes

The plant grows up to 60cm tall. Large, bright yellow-orange flowers. Avoided by slugs, thus easy to cultivate. The flower petals can be dried, pulverized and usage as a natural food colouring for pastries.

Simplex, mixed (annual) tagetes

In English they are affectionately called marigold, in our region they are relatively neglected, which is unjust! The diverse colour tones in our mix range from golden-yellow to brown-red and orange and light up every garden. Height up to 30cm, blooms June to October.
