Batavia lettuce, Reine des Glaces

Lactuca sativa var. capitata
https://www.zollinger.bio/web/image/product.template/1168/image_1920?unique=25eb0ef

This traditional Batavian lettuce from Savoy is a true specialty. The ruffled and frayed dark-green leaves give variety on the plate, yet are also very crisp. It grows well in spring and autumn cultivation. It looks especially great at the market stand. It is suitable for mountain areas.

The seeds are coated with a thin layer of terracotta, making them larger and more visible. Sowing coated seeds is much easier, be it in the vegetable garden or in professional production.
