Cape gooseberry (Physalis)
Physalis edulis
An exotic, but easily cultivated plant. It grows to about 150 cm tall with bushy outgrowth. As it ages you will find light brown papery lanterns with an orange-yellow fruit in the center. The fruit after emerging from the papery lantern, the fruit looks like a cherry tomato, yet with a unique taste. It is very tempting and mainly enjoyed as a dessert fruit.
