White star (annual to biennial)
Iberis amara
This surprising beauty morphs as it grows. The white flowers open, at first, in a plate or saucer shape. Then they grow into a candle-like inflorescence. Like coloured gems on a ring, single flower petals are circularly arranged in the centre.
