Tree spinach
Chenopodium giganteum
Tree spinach comes from the same plant family as common spinach, however, it grows up to 2.5 metres tall. The young, tender side shoots and leaves deliver a tasty leaf vegetable throughout the summer. The stocky plant with its reddish leaves is an eye-catcher in the garden. Cook up the leaves and tender shoots, or eat fresh leaves on salads.
