This old heirloom variety is originally from Western Switzerland. It is characterized by its extremely dark, almost black, fruit. The flesh is firm with an intense flavour. This robust variety also grows well in higher elevations. It is a vigorous and productive variety for beet greens too!

Growing instructions
Sow in April to early July in rows 30 cm apart. Regular watering promotes germination. You can also transplant seedlings. Later, thin to 10 cm within row spacing. Keep soil loose. Intercrop with bush beans and soybeans. Harvest in August and October.
