mallow family Malva silvestris Maur.

Mauritania velvetleaf (perennial) wild mallow

The Mauritanian Mallow, also known as just mallow, is a native wild plant. It impresses visitors with its red-violet flowers. In the medicine chest, the aerial parts of the flowering plant are used for sore throats and coughs. Height ranges from 40–120 cm. Blooms from June to October.

Sow from May to July in trays. Transplant starts into the field in the fall at a distance of 50 ✕ 50 cm to nutrient-rich soil. Avoid dry locations as it makes them susceptible to mallow rust (Puccinia Malvacearum). They reseed themselves.
