This long, cylindrical carrot has a beautiful dark orange to red colouration and good flavour. It stores well until springtime. So you can enjoy crunchy carrots or use them in recipes all year long. The foliage is strong and healthy which aids in giving such a robust root. It is a traditional heirloom variety.
For storage carrots, sow from June to early July in rows at 30 cm spacing. Keep the rows weed free and do not add fresh compost. If carrots are crowded, thin out to 2–3 cm between plants within the row. Carrots do well intercropped with onions to maximize field space.
