A special kind of gourd is found with this variety. The dark green, white-spotted fruits are reminiscent of the slender neck of a graceful swan. Each fruit is different. Each is its own surprise. They make great ornamental gifts for Christmas.
Sow beginning in mid-April in a warm place. Place one seed each in a 10-cm pot. Plant from 20 May at the compost heap or in nutrient-rich soil. (Watch out for slug damage!) Frost-free cultivation is required. Harvest in October. Store at 15º C is recommended. Cultivation on the ground results in curved necks, but cultivation on a climbing support (hanging fruits) results in straight necks.
