(Cucurbita max.) Hokkaido-varieties ranks among the best squashes. The small-fruited (2-3kg) Uchiki Kuri has a smooth skin, firm meat and incredible aroma. It can be used for both sweet and salty dishes. The plant creeps.

Sow from middle of April, 1 seed per 10cm pot. Only lightly cover with soil or sand and keep moist. Bed out from the 20th of May (Attention: slug damage!) at the base of the compost heap or in nutrient-rich soil. Frost-free culture required. Distances 80x100cm. Harvest before the first frost. Storage at a temperature of at least 15°C.
