(Cucurbita pepo var. oleifera). Seeds without shells. We obtained this oil pumpkin variety from a farmer in Styria, where this plant is traditionally cultivated. The seeds can be processed to an oil of high quality. The seeds are suitable – since without a hard shell – as an ideal crudités. The seeds are considered as a preventive remedy against prostate.
Sow a single seed in a 10cm pot in the middle of April at a temperature of about 20°C. Only lightly cover with soil or sand and keep evenly moist. Bed out from the 20th of May (Attention slug damage!) either at the base of the compost heap or in nutrient-rich soil. Frost-protected culture necessary. Storage at a temperature of at least 15°C.
