Winter bi-annual flowers - 01. September 2021

The month of September is very important for the bi-annual flowers: By planting them now, they will accumulate enough energy for the coming winter. Once spring comes, they will bloom in all colours! In addition to the classic species of adventitious flora of cereals (female mirror, poppy, adonis, cornflower, mirror of Venus, etc.), this also applies to evening primrose, daisy, lark and corncockle.

Many of these species were previously accompanying weeds in cereal fields and were planting themselves when harvested at the end of the summer. Due to the use of modern herbicides and intensive crops, this adventitious flora has virtually disappeared and, with it, a good part of biodiversity. Let’s bring this burst of colours back to our fields!
